Organization Design Conference 2018 – Wrap Up

Associates and clients of AlignOrg Solutions attended and presented at The Conference Board’s 14th Annual Organization (re) Design Conference held in November in New York City. The Conference theme was Shaping Culture, Driving Alignment and Leveraging Analytics and featured case studies, toolkits, and presentations on a wide range of topics. Approximately 110 people attended the main conference on November 8 – 9.
Approximately 35 people attended the Pre-Conference Seminar November 7th which was conducted byReed Deshler, Ken Brophy and Ken Thompson of AlignOrg Solutions. The full-day workshop was titled Fast. Intuitive. Practical. Proven Tools & Approaches for Effective Organization Design. The workshop had four objectives:
- Learn a powerful metaphor for aligning organizations
- Review key tools that will help you align organization choices and capabilities to strategy
- Learn the building blocks that will help you and your leaders Master the Cube
- Become a more effective Change Partner
Participants were highly engaged in large group and small group discussion during the fast-paced and dynamic session. Attendees left with tools, approaches and insights to apply in their organizations.
Julia Anas, Senior Director, People Resources Business Partnering at Adobe Systems presented with Mike Smith during the lead-off session for the main conference. Julia shared the Business Partner Learning Journey which was the story of capability building at Adobe. Mike shared the AlignOrg Solutions approach, and then together they shared how the approach has been customized at Adobe.
Reed Deshler, Principal of AlignOrg Solutions, served as moderator for a panel discussion on Future Trends Impacting Organization Design. The panel discussed some of the key challenges and opportunities that are facing organization designers today as the nature of work evolves. Reed also co-presented with Lesly Sauceda, Change Collaboration Manager at CMS Energy in a session titled Destination Mobilization. It was a case study on getting from the organization design blueprint to realization. They shared the tools, approach and successes CMS Energy has had with their transformation journey management process.
Many other current and former clients of AlignOrg Solutions attended the conference, including representatives from FedEx, Danaher, Hallmark Cards, American Family Insurance, American Express, Honda, Fiat Chrysler, and Shaw Industries.
The next Conference Board event that AlignOrg Solutions will lead is a one-day Organization Design Lab on June 12, 2019 in New York City. It will precede the 17th Annual Change and Transformation Conference.
