Managing Bumps on the Road to Organizational Resilience

Article by Sharon Moura
May 26, 2026
Managing an organization is a lot like heading out on a road trip. Success means having a clear path to follow, the grit to handle bumps and systems to help you stay on track.

It’s officially summer, which means road trip season—think beautiful vistas, peaceful campgrounds and the promise of a new adventure around every turn. The reality, however, is not always that simple. Road trips can also mean flat tires, traffic jams and backseat arguments over who gets to control the playlist. To enjoy the benefits, we must learn to relinquish control, prioritize and focus on the positive. These life lessons extend beyond the pavement to the practice of designing and leading an organization.

In her 2025 blog, Sharon Moura described what a 70-day road trip through Newfoundland taught her about building a successful organization. We invite you to revisit it here, then contemplate what “rules of the road” you hope to take away from your summer adventures. Happy travels!
